“All About Me”
6 - 7 Year Olds:
We are aware that language is a social event, and that through meaningful
experiences children develop the ability to function in it with
ease. In "All About Me" students
develop a repertoire in
Spanish that prepares them to transition into a more cultural based
curriculum. |

We
develop language in our classes through thematic units filled with
literature, music, movement, dance, art, and cooking. We use
children’s books such as La mariquita malhumorada (The
Grouchy Ladybug"),
La gallinita roja (The Little Red Hen), and Manzano,
manzano (Apple tree, Apple tree) among others. Each of
these books allows us to study themes such as: Who am I? Who
belongs to my family? Who lives in the farm? What are the food
groups? Where do animals live? Our thematic units are rich in
language and build on each other. |
