SUMMER PROGRAM 2008

July 8 to August 23

Who we are  

As the name of our center suggests, we are a program that is designed to offer Spanish All Year Round for children six months to 12 years of age. 

Our team of teachers is made up of native speakers from Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Spain and Venezuela.  For the summer, we offer a fun and exciting seven week program, from the second week in July to the third week in August.  Classes meet once a week for forty five minutes for the younger children and for ages 3-12 we will offer a cultural program where we will travel to seven Spanish speaking countries.  The children will experience Literature, Folklore, Cooking and Art.

Our Program 
“Latin Feet Baby and Me” (6 months to 12 months) 
Come to class with your baby and enjoy forty five minutes of Latin-American rhythms such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Bachata, Mambo, Conga and More..., This class is suitable for all levels of fitness and dance experience. Bring your own carrier (Classes conducted in Spanish)

“Latin Feet Toddler and Me” (1 and 2 Year Olds)                
Is a forty five minutes program designed for an older child who has outgrown the carrier and is ready to dance on their own feet.  This parent-and-tot class is full of fun, Latin-American rhythms and steps for toddlers, though walking is not a pre-requisite. We combine movement and play with instruments and toys.

“Together en Español” (2 and 3 Year Olds                          
Is a 45 minutes full immersion program, where parents or caregivers are given the tools to be an important part of their child’s learning experience.  We don’t use English translations…We only speak Spanish, so brush up your Spanish from High school, or just come with a clean slate…and follow the teachers instructions, repeat, repeat, and have fun, dance and sing en Español.

“Latin Feet (5-8 Year Olds)                                              
Will be incorporated in all classes for 3-12 Year Olds       
Is an independent Dance class that introduces children to the Spanish language and culture for one hour, using music and creative movement. It is designed to teach the basics of Latin rhythms, to move and follow basic choreography, posture, movements of the arms, and the use of props like skirts, scarves, fans, maracas etc.

 “Spanish Preschool Program” (3, 4 and 5 Year Olds),       
This is a full immersion program offered for nursery, pre-K, and Kindergarten, as a way to maximize exposure to the language, and as an enhancement to children’s preschool experience. 

“All about Me Program” (6 and 7 Year Olds)                         
In this program children internalize Spanish by being exposed to children’s literature, art and authentic music and recipes from Latin America. 

“My Friends and Me Program” (8 and 9 Year Olds)             
At this level, the children begin to experience with cultural artifacts from the Spanish Speaking world.

In the summer, our students will attend four different workshops, where they will develop their appreciation for the language and culture.  Our programs are designed for students that have a busy summer schedule, but still want to keep up with their Spanish.   Our workshops rotate everyday and allow the children to interact with different teachers every time they come to class.

The children will be immersed with sounds of the Spanish language from the very beginning.  They will sing, dance and listen to traditional stories from the Spanish speaking world.

Children will have a taste of the Latin Culture and will develop their appreciation for new cuisine and desserts.

The children will create their own art using clay, plaster of parish, clay dough and recycled paper.  There will be an exhibit at the end of the summer for all parents to appreciate their children’s hidden talents.
